QueVault: reusable templates and a clearer everyday workflow

October development has focused on making QueVault more useful for the records people actually keep, while making everyday navigation feel more settled. This is a progress report on the development build, rather than an announcement of a new App Store release.

Templates you can keep, share and adapt

Template Builder starts with an explicit choice: create, copy or open a design. Captured from the current Mac development build.

My Templates now provides a reusable personal library on the current device, alongside the independent template copies held inside each vault. A dedicated .qvt export lets a design be shared without exporting the records that use it. Import previews make the destination and version explicit, and validation rejects record data and unsupported formats.

The community library adds another starting point. Insurance Policy, Warranty and Subscription designs now have International, UK, US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand variants: 18 starters with country labels and appropriate terminology and currency labels. The default view includes the device country and International designs, while other countries remain available.

Make My Own Copy lets a downloaded design become an independent template with its own name and country. The original stays intact. The personal library remains local to the device; sharing between devices uses template exports or existing vault copies. Community submissions require an account and administrator approval.

Recovery codes and app-specific passwords

A new Account Recovery Codes record keeps codes concealed, with individual reveal and copy actions and Used checkboxes. Bulk paste accepts one code per line, preserving spaces and hyphens, and the unused count remains visible in record summaries.

The App-Specific Password record keeps a provider-issued credential with the application and account it belongs to. A Revoked checkbox records its status in QueVault; revoking access itself must still be done with the provider.

Small interface changes that matter

On the Mac, search now has space inside its glass control, a visible focus state and a more reliable activation area. Opening or unlocking a vault puts search ready for typing. The shared glass controls use compact 36-point sizing on Mac, while iPhone and iPad retain 44-point touch controls.

Onboarding and the QueVault website guidance have also been updated to explain the growing template system. The aim is to make the distinction between a reusable design, a vault copy and an export clear before someone needs to rely on it.

These changes remain part of ongoing development. Further testing and release preparation are separate from this diary update.
