This week’s recorded work concentrated on the transition between a locked vault and the main application. The unlock screen became a clean, full-screen experience, rather than leaving the sidebar visible behind a password prompt. After unlocking, the main vault could appear more smoothly.
The more important part was what happened when the app was left alone. Automatic locking needed to follow the configured period away from the foreground. On iPad, that could not depend only on a timer continuing to run: an application can be suspended while it is in the background.
We changed the handling to retain inactivity timing and respond to the platform’s foreground and background events. Locking from Settings also closed the separate Settings window on the Mac, keeping the visible state consistent with the action.
This was not a new category of record or a dramatic new screen full of features. It was work on making the vault’s behaviour match the expectation created by its lock button. As the app moved towards storing a wider range of personal information, that consistency would become even more important.
